Dad's Pink Socks

So you might notice in my blog that I will include many family stories, not just of my own. Lets just face it, their lives are more interesting!

My dad is color blind. As kids we loved to play the "daddy light bright game". Really dad was a good sport about the whole thing. We would put a little pink light in the light bright and ask dad what color it was. And he would respond, "Pink." We would laugh and giggle, "no daddy it's pink." And we would select another color with a similar response. This you have to understand was quite fun for children with a very competative father. I mean, this was one game we could ALWAYS win at! And it was beyond our minds, why dad didn't know the colors when we did! :)

So, one day mom biffed and ended up turning a load of white socks pink. She is usually nice and considerate of my dad's little disability. But this particular day, when dad got downstairs and realized he didn't bring socks, he asked my mom to go get them for her. (This was really a favor that he did her to keep her in shape! :) ) So mom thought it would be a kick to send dad golfing with his friends that day in pink socks. So she brought them to him. She quickly turned the corner so that he couldn't see her snickering. "LUANN!" he yelled. Oh darn, he caught me she thought, going back into the room. "This sock has a whole in it, " he announced. Mom so delighted that she could still play her little trick on him calmly took the holey sock and grabbed him another sock. So now he had a pink and a white one. :) She let him go golfing. When his friend Marcel came to get him, mom pulled Marcel aside to point out the pink sock. You know men might not notice such a thing, so all her trips up the stairs would be meaningless, if dad didn't get teased by his friends. Marcel was great, making sarcastic comments about his pink sock as he was TEE ing off. :) Marcel had a chance at winning that way! :)
