My mom's prayers have some TRUE power.
My parents own a 1974 Chevy Truck. It is a WORK truck. It has had some good times and has pulled off a ton of hard jobs. (I remember talking to her as a kid and trying to give her the "pep talk" that she could do it as I sat in the truck and her tires spinning, trying to pull our HUGE bubble top van out of the mud and up a hill. -No she did not have 4 wheel drive. )

Anyhoo - she was on her last year of emissions before it would be "grandfathered in" and not have to pass emissions anymore. My dad found out all the tricks (this was pre internet you know) Run her really fast on a free way before, put in high octane gas . . . And my mom did her part, she prayed. She prayed and prayed it would pass it's last year of emissions testing.
My dad got home with a funny grin on his face. "Well, it passed, " he said, "BARELY." My mom was almost shocked at this point. Finally my dad offered a "logical" explanation.
Years ago the truck needed it's exhaust replaced. It had a dual exhaust that funneled back into the exhaust t. My dad talked to the mechanic and asked if it would be cheaper to just drop the exhaust off each side, instead of running the pipes into one and out the back. It saved him a $150 then - and well, even more this day of testing. You see, the dude only hooked up to ONE of the exaughst pipes - in which the emissions BARELY passed.
We had some family friends with a nicer - newer - but still old Ford - thing cost them a TON to get to pass inspections.
For us all it took was mama's prayers and a clueless inspection dude :)
YET ANOTHER PRAYER
Ma took my 4.0 GPA sister Bre to take her written PERMIT drivers test (you know the EASY ONE.) As Bre walked in to take the test my other sweet sister leaned over to my mom, "ya know ma, know that bre will have a license she will want to drive when we take our Utah trip."
Mom QUICKLY bowed her head and prayed for Bre not to pass.
Sure enough my 4.0 GPA sister FAILED the WRittEN drivers test. (By ONE question so she says.)
(I later heard she failed it not once, but twice!)
My ma's prayers have powers that's all I can say!
JUST A PS. ;) I am totally doing this this weekend:
